Works-In-Progress
PIGEON FOOL
What does it mean to be human in an age of artificial intelligence?
What do we have left that can’t be simulated, recreated or taken away by the machines?
And is it just that the robots are becoming more human, or are we humans becoming more robotic?
In Pigeon Fool, Counterpilot interrogates humanness in the AI revolution by subjecting participants to a theatrical Turing Test. This project draws its influence from our critically acclaimed performance work TRUTHMACHINE, which involves a theatrical polygraph test (complete with working lie detector and high-tech digital design) to explore ideas of truth in a post-truth world. TRUTHMACHINE effectively embodies big philosophical ideas by playfully challenging its audience to experience an appropriated lie detector test in a theatrical context alongside exposition and anecdotes.
With Pigeon Fool, we are adopting key learnings from TRUTHMACHINE to craft a new short-form interactive performance work that enacts scientific social experiments with theatrical panache. The work will be supported with rich technical design, surprising gameplay, and unexpected gestures of the surreal.

SCAREDY HOUSE
An interactive “reverse haunted house” for young audiences exploring social anxiety... an immersive black box theatre work encouraging families to work together to illuminate their worries in a game of slight frights and night lights. Goosebumps meets Minecraft with an existential twist…
Scaredy House is commissioned by Metro Arts and is currently in early stages of creative development. This work will premiere in June 2024 and be available for touring presentation from late 2024.
